Commerce Decisions
Fulfillment Optimizer
Chooses the cheapest SLA-aware fulfilment plan across a warehouse network, splitting shipments when needed.
The Problem
Where an order ships from trades off cost, speed and stock. A cheap plan that misses the SLA is not cheap.
How It Works
- Compute Haversine distance to each warehouse.
- Cost = ₹50 + ₹0.05/km + ₹8/kg; days = 1 + ceil(km / 500); add a ₹100/day penalty for lateness.
- Prefer the best single warehouse with full stock; otherwise split each item to the nearest warehouse that has it.
Technically Interesting
A late delivery is priced into the score, so the optimiser can knowingly choose a plan that misses the SLA when every alternative is worse.
Why It Matters
Order-management decisions are cost/SLA trade-offs; making the trade-off explicit is the core of fulfilment optimisation.
Scope & honesty. A greedy strategy over synthetic data. Warehouse capacity is modelled but not enforced.
